As you prepare your holiday traditions this year, be sure to include some of downtown Wilmington, NC’s favorite holiday festivities. From parades to theater, there’s a festive activity downtown to warm the heart of any Scrooge or Tiny Tim. Here are a few of our favorites:
Wilmington Holiday Parade
The annual Holiday Parade downtown is Dec. 4, 2016. Community groups, school organizations, bands, and businesses celebrate the season at this evening extravaganza.
Holiday Pops Concert at the Latimer House
The North Carolina Symphony celebrates the season with a holiday pops concert Dec. 22, 2016 at 3 and 7.30 p.m. We expect that Santa will be there, too.
Old Wilmington by CandleLight
Be at Latimer House from 4-8 p.m. Dec 3 and 1-5 p.m. Dec. 4, 2016 for this popular holiday home tour. See how yesterday’s history has adapted to modern times and get a glimpse of Christmas past!
The Ultimate Christmas Show
The Annual Holiday Variety Show and Christmas Pageant at St. Everybody’s Non-Denominational Universalist Church comes to Thalian Hall at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 28, 2016. Three members of the Reduced Shakespeare Company are pressed into service to perform the entire Variety Show and Christmas Pageant by themselves, assisted by the Three Wise Guys.
The Nutcracker
New York’s Ballet for Young Audiences presents an hour-long Nutcracker ballet for young audiences at 4 and 7 p.m. Dec. 2 and 10 a.m. Dec. 3 at Thalian Hall. The Mouse King and the Sugarplum Fairy will be in attendance.
A Tuna Christmas
This sequel to “Greater Tuna” reports on Yuletide in the famous Texas town. Enjoy the show at TheatreNow with or without a Texas-sized holiday meal, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 5 p.m. Nov. 18 to Dec. 18.
Cape Fear Riverboat Cruises
Enjoy daytime fall sightseeing cruises during the day only on Friday, Saturday and Sundays through November (the last evening cruise this fall is Oct. 29, 2016). Add an extra scarf and enjoy the quiet beauty of the Cape Fear River with your loved ones as a special holiday treat. Afterward you can enjoy some of the special holiday events happening in downtown Wilmington.
