Dogs are always ready for a walk, and we dog owners are always looking for new places to take our pups. Luckily Wilmington abounds with parks that are perfect for dog walking, running, and sniffing.
One of the best places to walk your dog is along Wilmington’s Riverwalk. There are people and pooches to meet and greet while you enjoy the view and the fresh river breezes. Play Riverwalk Bingo and find all the shopping, dining, and attractions along the Riverwalk!
The River Grill is a Dog-Friendly Restaurant
You will need sustenance along the way, so stop at the River Grill and get a burger or a snack, a soft drink, or a beer. Dogs are welcome at this open-air dining venue! Ask the bartender for a bowl of water for your canine. Then you can both enjoy the scenery and the refreshments. We love being a Dog friendly Wilmington NC restaurant. The River Grill is right along the Riverwalk, dockside at Dock and Water Streets. The newly renovated barge is opened up for extra seating and an expanded menu, with hot dogs (no relation), fries and onion rings, sweet and salty snacks, and the best Riverside Burger in North Carolina!
To slake your thirst, choose from beer, wine, soft drinks, and water (water only for our canine friends, please). Sit down and take a moment to rest and enjoy the scenery, with your pup at your side. It’s always fun when we find a place that welcomes our best friends!
Dog Days Can Be Every Day
Walk your tail-wagger downtown! Meet up with friends, or let your dog be your ambassador to making new friends.
- Stop and get Fido or Fifi a snack at Von Barkee’s Dog Spa and Bakery. Then you can enjoy a bite yourself at the River Grill.
- On Saturday mornings, you and your pup can visit the Farmers Market at the foot of Princess Street, then stop by the River Grill for a snack.
- On Sunday afternoons, dogs are welcome at the Historic Downtown Wilmington Marketplace artisan market along Front Street. It’s just a block down to Water Street and the River Grill.
